Y Fagal

Holiday Cottage in Ceibwr Bay

About Y Fagal

Y Fagal is a characterful stone cottage in the quiet hamlet above Ceibwr Bay, yards from the Coastal Path with sea views, it is only a short downhill walk away from this stunning inlet and beach. Originally a traditional stone long house and barn, one of which was a milking parlour, they have been linked and converted to create a deceptively spacious cottage full of character with rendered stone walls and practical flooring throughout.

The sitting/dining room is the perfect place to relax with a wonderful sea view from one end and a large Inglenook with wood burning stove at the other, which creates a cosy feel on those chillier evenings. Two of the bedrooms also have sea glimpses and the spacious kitchen is ideal for preparing family meals. Enjoy dining alfesco on the sheltered enclosed garden to the side of the cottage, steps lead up to a sloping, lawned garden above the cottage planted with pretty mature fruit trees, the view from here is wonderful out over the headland, Ceibwr Bay and out to sea.

Ceibwr Bay is unspoilt and a regular haunt of grey seals and sea birds, spend your days walking the Coastal Path, the cliffs are high, rugged and dramatic or alternatively head inland, the countryside is idyllic round here, with footpaths and pretty lanes to wander. The area is popular with kayakers and for coasteering for the more adventurous. Launch your kayak from the nearby stream, leading straight to the sea. Tucked away, there is the neighbouring village of Moylegrove within walking distance, with the recommended Penrallt Garden Centre and cafe a little further on. A short drive takes you to the bustling village of Newport with a range of pubs, restaurants, shops and cafes, as well as its stunning golden beach and tidal estuary of the River Nevern, a mecca for bird and wildlife. Keen golfers will enjoy the Newport Golf Course with its stunning sea views and clubhouse. In the other direction lies Poppit Sands, a blue flag beach and the start of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, while the market town of Cardigan with a good selection of facilities is well worth a visit.

A wonderful holiday cottage to escape to and enjoy a restful holiday exploring this wonderful undeveloped area of the north Pembrokeshire coast.

Care needed as unfenced drops from the orchard.

We arrived in warm sunshine and what a wonderful cottage - a real home from home....the scenery on this coast fantastic as we have found from previous visits. We have found the beds very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked with cooking utensils and pots - all we could need.....we very much liked the quiet here and beautiful woodland walk by the river.... Spotted our first seal on the second day

Wow! What a cottage - what a coastline and what a great holiday we have had. Daily walks on the coastal path where coastline changes as you go. Lots of seal and seal pup sightings. Some big waves crashing over the rocks and some canoeing in the bay. Thank you very much. I am sure we will be back.

Location, location, location. Great walking and canoeing from house, no need for car, lovely garden. Such a relaxing property. Cool in heat - very warm when heating was needed. Everything we needed and all of high quality.

We have had a lovely restful fortnight in Y Fagal. It is so quiet here. We have enjoyed watching the swallows darting in and out of the barn. Poppit Sands has been our beach of choice. The Bay to remember boat trip was a lot of fun with plenty of birds and seals to see.

We've had an excellent week here relaxing. Excellent walks, excursions to Aberystwyth and St Davids, plus sea kayaking from the inlet down the road. Already thinking about next year. Facilities at the cottage are excellent. Saw a seal in the bay yesterday, thank you for supplying a sewing basket!

The space, the equipment, the comfort, and 1st class location made our 30th wedding anniversary a memorable one. Having two bathrooms was perfect too. Our three dogs also enjoyed the walks, playing on the beach and just lazing round Y Fagal on a hot, overcast day or just in holiday mode. We will be back. Thank you for sharing this special place.

If you like the sea it's virtually in it. If you like west Wales it's actually in it and if you like houses you can totally stay in it. Thank you
